David Wilkerson died in a car accident on April 27th. My uncle died on April 29th, on the anniversary of the death of my father. RIP Pastor Wilkerson, RIP Uncle Norvin, RIP Dad.
I went to see David Wilkerson speak when I was just a kid. It was awesome, something I'll never forget. I'm not an overly religious person but I have my own personal beliefs. This man was real - not someone just out to make money or put on a show.
The Cross and the Switchblade chronicled Wilkerson's early years in New York City tending to drug addicts and gang members. It sold 15 million copies in 30 languages and was made into a 1970 movie starring Pat Boone (as Wilkerson) and Erik Estrada. I highly recommend the movie to anyone who has never seen it. Although the story may be outdated compared to what goes on now, the story is inspiring - and it is true which makes it even more inspiring.

Still here
Over a year but I'm still here. Lots of changes. Bought a house, moved, working on the house, still in school, etc. Not much time but I have decided to give this blogging thing another shot. I've been following the Pioneer Woman blog and really enjoy it so as soon as I figure out exactly what I'm going to focus on, I'll be back.

Leaves, leaves, and more leaves
I did manage to get some of them mowed today. I started raking and decided that was just ludicrous, don't know why I even attempted it since I go through this every year. It is now raining which will just knock more of them off. By tomorrow you won't be able to tell that I mowed any. My yard will look like crap. To make it worse, deer season (bow) is in and I already have deer bones in my yard. Gotta love Kimmy and Vagrant. I let them both in last night and Vagrant went straight to the milk bone container and plopped himself down and looked back and forth from me to them like he was saying "There they are, aren't you going to give me one?" Kimmy is much more polite about it. She'll gently take one out of your hand and go eat it. With Vagrant, you have to be careful not to lose a finger in the process. I've decided the best way to deal with him is to just throw it to him from at least 6 feet away.
I've been sitting here working on a presentation I have to give tomorrow night. I HATE public speaking! I'm sure I'll get through it though.
Anyway - I'll have to call sometime and fill you in about the "secret". No announcements yet.

More Goodbyes
Just got home from another goodbye to friends from work. It's hard watching your friends leave one by one even when you know you won't be far behind them. There are some that I will miss very much and some that I won't miss at all. Of all the times this has happened, I think today was probably the worst so far. Two from my own department said goodbye today. I have just one more month before I'm done and it is going to be a VERY long month.
Cut it off
I found David Wilkerson's blog! I remember David Wilkerson from "The Cross and the Switchblade." We are talking YEARS ago. I even went to see him one time and I must say it was awesome. I do not really get into religion but this man is worth listening to. His topic today was Cut them off.
If it offends you cut it off. I'm reading that this morning thinking - Sam. Cut it off. Not that I could, or would say anything against him - there is simply nothing there. Cut it off. I'm going to have to do that.
