Thursday is here again and I've been off work for a week!
Being that its Thursday it's time to do a little "pondering" with Brenda
from Fiction with a Purpose.
Her rules are really easy:
1. Grab the Pondering with a Purpose Badge (in her sidebar)
2. Look at the week's prompt
3. Post something on your blog that relates to the prompt - it can be a
story, a poem, a picture -- anything you want it to be.
4. Go back here and add the URL from your post to the linky list on Brenda's.
5. Go check out the other bloggers who have added their links to the list.
6. AND most of all.... Have fun!
So this week the subject is: Superstitions
I grew up hearing all kinds of superstitions. My mother especially is extremely superstitions - about everything. This time of year one of her favorites is that if you do laundry on New Years Day you will not live to see another. She swears it's true although I've done laundry numerous times on New Years Day and I'm still here! I've found over the years it's just easier to humor her and not admit to it!

I think any excuse to take a break from laundry is good : )
ReplyDeleteLOL... I think I like your mom! Maybe I should've heard that one years ago.... I'm sure I've done laundry on New Years Day so many times I can't count! How could you help when you have kids?
ReplyDeleteHow about eating Black eyed peas on New Year's Day. My Dad's family always did that, they were really superstitious. So was my grandmother, but she never ate black-eyed peas on New Year, except for the year that her daughter my Mom died.
ReplyDeleteShe hated that traditions the rest of her life.
I detest black eyed peas on any day so I would never eat them, but I see what you mean. I never heard about doing laundry. I think I do laundry ever single day of the week so I know I must have done it on New Year's Day.
Hey good job on the 10 pounds!
Does it work on dishes? : )
ReplyDeleteI grew up in a completely unsuperstitious family, so when I first encountered people with superstitions I was surprised--some are really humorous, although the believer is positive that they are real.
ReplyDeleteI think my mom told me once that it's bad luck to do laundry on Christmas Eve or Day. Maybe she got it mixed up with New Year's.
