Pondering With A Purpose

It's Thursday! One of my favorite days. Time to do a little "pondering" with Brenda from Ponderings of an Author.

Her rules are really easy:

1. Grab the Pondering with a Purpose Badge (in her sidebar)
2. Look at the week's prompt
3. Post something on your blog that relates to the prompt - it can be a story, a poem, a picture -- anything you want it to be.
4. Go back here and add the URL from your post to the linky list on Brenda's.
5. Go check out the other bloggers who have added their links to the list.
6. AND most of all.... Have fun!

This Week's prompt:  Green

I love the color green -it is my favorite. And it's almost St. Patrick's Day! But the question today is have we ever seen someone we love turn green (from sickness). My answer is yes. When the kids were in high school, I worked a second job at a convenience store on the weekends. One day, a young boy came in to buy something. He was GREEN - literally, green. He was all smiles and didn't look sick or anything. I thought he was going to a party or something - but it wasn't close to Halloween. I almost asked him what he was up to but thank God something stopped me. When I got home, I mentioned it to my daughter and she said "Yes, that's ____, his liver is failing." I felt awful! The child was dying and I thought he was playing some sort of prank. He lived for another six months and I got to know him a little through those months. He always had a smile on his face. It never ceases to amaze me how terminally ill kids can find anything to smile about.

  1. I have been "green" with sickness on an airplane. I have stopped wearing green when I travel.

  2. I get terribly sea sick, but that doesn't stop me. I use scopalamine and then enjoy the water.

  3. This was a great story with a good lesson on not being quick to judge by first impression, though I would have reacted the same as you! Green, as in ill, is a very eerie shade, while the green of Spring growth is emerald and beautiful!

  4. Funny that you mention green- I'm dreaming of green- I am terribly green with envy for all those who are having spring already- and most sick with green tinges of marker all over the snow....as if that would help!
