Wednesday hops

Time for the Wednesday hops so I'll be heading to Joyce's first this week. If you're here for Chats on the Farmhouse Porch at Patrice's, scroll down.
Wednesday Hodgepodge

1. How do you typically react in a sudden, extreme, pressure-filled crisis? Would we want you nearby in an emergency?
I also do some of my best work under pressure. I'm a trained EMT so I know what to do in emergencies. Scares me to death but in those situations I usually just react and then fall apart later.

2. Caramel apple-caramel sundae-caramel corn-caramel macchiato...of the four, which carmel treat would you choose?

Caramel macchiato - NO CONTEST!

3. Is there such a thing as destiny? Explain.
I'm a firm believer that we are in charge of our own destiny.

4. What's your favorite piece of furniture? I'm referring to something currently in your possession as opposed to something on your wish list.
Right now I'd have to say the built in cabinet, shown here - so many possibilities - I'm excited.

5. Wednesday night marks the start of the 2011 Baseball World Series. Did you know? Do you care? Will you be watching? Ever been to a professional baseball game? If you're not an American do you find the title 'World Series' annoying or amusing?
Not a fan - didn't know - don't care.

6. A sound that takes me back to my childhood is____________.
Rain on a tin roof - it's one of my favorite memories about growing up at my granny's house.

7. On average, once you've linked your hodgepodge post to mine how many other participant blogs do you visit? Do you ever come back to the Hodgepodge later in the day or even the day after to read posts?
I try to visit as many as I can - it's usually in the morning before I go to work but sometimes I do come back to visit more if I have a chance on my lunch hour or even when I find some extra time during the day. I love reading comments on my posts so I try and comment on at least 5 or 6.

8. Insert your own random thought here.
My daughter came in to town yesterday so I took half a day vacation to spend with her. She wanted me to go over her insurance choices (her company is changing the options available). She wants to be sure she has the right plan for when she does get pregnant. As some of you may know, she desperately wants a baby. We went to lunch and did some shopping for her brother's expectant child - her idea. Made me feel so bad - she was almost in tears when she saw a onsie with a saying on it that she said would be perfect for her baby. I'm so happy that my son and dil are expecting - can't wait to be a grandma - but I hurt for her and try not to show how excited I am for fear of upsetting her more. Any ideas on how to handle this?

Now to go over to Patrice's for a chat on her porch

  1. What kind of camera do you use?
  2. What will you have for Thanksgiving dinner? If not in the US, tell us about a special meal, please.
  3. What's the biggest vehicle you've driven?
  4. Have you ever been on a train? This can be a commuter train or the chugga-chugga-choo-choo kind.:)
  5. What question would you like to ask the people visiting on my porch next week?
My answers:
1.Mine is a point and shoot that my daughter go t me for Christmas a couple of years ago.
2. Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, homemade noodles, homemade rolls, pumpkin pie for my daughter, sweet potato pie for everyone else.
3. Believe it or not a great big 18 wheeler - drove it a couple of times and HATED it.
4. I have been on the little train at the St. Louis Zoo - almost like a carnival ride.
5. What is your favorite Christmas tradition?

  1. I love hearing rain on a tin roof. So pleasant!

Not sure about the baby thing...however, there is a blog by a young woman who was having trouble with this until she changed her diet---I think she's pregnant with number two or three now. She is the Coconut Mama at http://thecoconutmama.com/ I don't know if it'll help, but you can check her site out. You might have to search for her story--or just email her...she's very nice! And she may have some other sites for you to check out!

  2. I always thought it would be cool to drive an 18 wheeler, but I bet it is kind of scary. I love sweet potato pie! Thanks for joining in again.

  3. I feel for you with your random thought. It's very hard to react properly and send the right messages when one child has something so important that another child wants. Pray and be sensitive to God's leading--that's the only way I can deal with it.

    Hope your Wednesday is great!

  4. Oooh, that's a sore one :(

My husband has 4 sisters, and the eldest one was never able to have kids. First of all, we had a baby, then one by one, her sisters and I just kept having them. All of us dreaded telling her... 12 times in all! So sad, but hopefully, it may not be too long until her desires are fulfilled... ((Hugs)) to her

  5. Funny how rain on a roof can be such a comforting sound even for those of us who live in a rainy climate. I especially like the sound of rain on the car roof. I'm snug inside watching and listening. Now, if I can just figure out how to get from car to house.

  8. Number 2 was my answer as well. Rain on a roof sure is nice and I'm sorry about your daughter. I don't know what to tell you about that. I hope she can reach her dream.

  9. I'm sorry for your daughter. Mine had a difficult time getting pregnant, too, so I know how much it hurts a mama's heart to see her daughter so sad. Praying for you all.

  10. That is a hard thing with your daughter; I feel for both of you; hubby and me went through infertility (we subsequently adopted) and it is never easy to desperately want a baby when everyone and anyone around you is pregnant. Best thing to do is to supuport her as you can, allow her to be sad if she is sad, and hope and pray for the best!

Caramel macchiato would have been my choice too!
