Chats on the Farmhouse Porch

It's time to head over to Patrice's porch for the weekly chat.Wendell is with us today! Don't know about anybody else but I've kind of missed him.
Questions

  1. Do you prefer to wash dishes by machine or by hand? If you tell me you don't wash dishes, I will cry, but secretly want to be like you when I grow up! I remember my dad mentioning a dishwasher once and my mother's comment of "Why? I already have three (as in me and my sisters). I still do dishes by hand and I don't mind it. I did not, however, EVER make my kids do dishes. They had chores to do but never dishes.
  2. Who has been the biggest inspiration to you? I guess I would have to say my grandmother. She was an awesome woman - Cherokee and did everything the old way.
  3. Have you been to any fall festivals or local fairs? Will you be going to any? I've only been to one so far but will probably go to a few.
  4. Bath or shower? Usually shower but sometimes there's nothing like soaking in a bath.
  5. Tell me something interesting you learned from a blog recently. Please:) I learn a lot by reading others' posts. Just today I learned that three of my favorite bloggers are actually related. I knew that "Touristic" and "Acting Balanced" were married but didn't realize that "Retired not Tired" was Heather's mom!

  1. I remember well my mom making me and my sister help with the dishes. I conveniently had to go to the restroom every time it was time and I would linger enough to get out of most of it. When we got older and had kids of our own, my mom and sister would send me outside to babysit the kids because my sister always said..."You'll just end up in the bathroom if we make you help."

  2. I remember my two sisters and I doing dishes at the sink. It was a very long counter with very long sinks. There was a huge mirror on the other side. We enjoyed having fun and making faces, or singing in front of that mirror.I wonder how many bloggers actually have family who blogs too. I have two daughters who blog. The third one likes the 3 dimensional world better.

  3. Oh really Heather's mom is retired not tired that is so cool thank you for telling!!! I mean sharing LOL
I tried to give the kids dishes to do as a chore but then when they would do crappy jobs I would get disgusted and re-do them so I quit requiring it from them.

  4. We were three girls at home growing up too, but my mom only made my younger sister and I do dishes. The "baby" was exempt, which annoyed my younger sister to no end.

I didn't know Mrs. Retired is Heather's mom! Thanks for the input!

Have a blessed rest of your week.
