Hodgepodge

Welcome back to the Wednesday Hodgepodge! Be sure to add your link to the bottom of Joyce's post and then go visit the neighbors. After all, that's part of the fun!

1.  ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?  The NFL is back in action along with all the college teams.  Are you a fan?  Who do you root for?  If you're not a fan what do you do while the rest of America watches Saturday, Sunday, Monday night, and now Thursday night games? Sorry - not a fan AT ALL. I do what I always do - crochet, reading, cooking and some of the Food Network.

2. What's something I'll always find in your closet? Lots of black and white and then lots of brown and green. Those tend to be my favorite colors for clothing. You'll also find a variety of purses, luggage and even some prom dresses of my daughter's - and both kids' graduation robes!

3. Share one of your earliest memories. Stirring apple butter in a HUGE cast iron kettle, outside over a fire at my grandma's house.

4. What circus act best describes your week so far? Juggling, as always.

5. What's a food you disliked as a child but you love now? squash

6.  Describe your summer in three words. hot, dry, and unproductive (bad year for the garden)

7.  Where were you on September 11, 2001? Will you do anything special to mark the day this year? I was at work and the whole building spent the entire day in the breakroom in front of the TV. I did not do anything special this year.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.I love the cooler weather we're having and seeping with the windows open - no air, no heat. I'm afraid we won't have a really pretty fall here because of the drought but at least the temps are better.

  1. What a nice memory. Those times spent with family are something to cherish.
Lots of "hot and dry" around. So glad for fall!

  2. Your early memory is so sweet. I think my earliest centers around my grandparents also.

  4. Ooh...just the thought of apple butter makes my mouth water! I'm enjoying our cooler temps, too! It's nice to go for a walk or a run without sweat pouring down my back!

  9. We usually go apple picking in the fall and I'm going to make some apple butter this year. I love it on a biscuit especially. So nice to open up the windows and let the stale air out and the fresh air in!
