This week's questions:

2. Are you a cereal eater? What's your favorite kind? Rarely, but when I do I like things like Cheerios or Shredded Wheat.
3. A five year old in Pennsylvania was recently given a ten day school suspension for talking with a friend about shooting one another with a Hello Kitty Bubble gun (the gun blows bubbles). She did not have the gun with her at school.
A psychological evaluation was also ordered and the incident was recorded on her permanent record. The suspension was later reduced to two days and her parents are suing to have the incident removed from her file. Your thoughts? (If you missed the story click here for details). That's ridiculous! Suspending a child for playing - I think that's definitely going too far.
4. Whatever happened to_letting kids be kids____________________________?
5. January 23rd is National Handwriting Day, billed as a day to reacquaint yourself with a pen and pencil. Do you like your handwriting? Do you prefer to print or write in cursive? This date was chosen because its the birth date of John Hancock. What's the last thing you signed your name to? I sign my name quite a bit for things at work and my handwriting is ok as long as I'm not in a real hurry.
6. Speaking of John Hancock...ever been to Philadelphia? Do you have any desire to visit the city of Brotherly Love? No - and no.
7. Share something funny you've heard a child say. Drawing a blank here. The only thing I can think of is my son when he was really little and couldn't pronounce "truck" - it was humorous but sometimes a little embarrassing.
8. Insert your own random thought here. I'm working on planning daughters baby shower and I don't quite know what to do. I haven't been to a baby shower in years. Help!
Yay to Cheerios...I'm a big fan! Gosh...I haven't been to a baby shower in a long time, either...I wouldn't know where to begin! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteYour answer to the first question is what I was thinking too, but I didn't elaborate in my answer. It definitely depends on the whole situation!
ReplyDeleteCheck out Pinterest for TONS of baby shower ideas! People come up with new ideas all the time, and Pinterest will usually have a picture of two to help you see what they mean. Put words like baby shower, and baby shower games in the search box at the top. Also, they'll have a lot of affordable ideas too! Hope it goes smoothly for you!
Have a great day!
Loved your funny story! When our little granddaughter used to try to say "cake", it came out sounding more like "cock". Once in a restaurant, she kept saying it over and over...
ReplyDeleteI agree, let kids be kids!
A baby shower for your daughter? How fun! The internet has tons of ideas.
I agree with your answer to #1.
ReplyDeleteI agree with #1! If someone doesn't respect the relationship they're in, what on earth makes you think they'd respect one with you?
ReplyDeleteOn the baby shower...get yourself over to Pinterest. You'll find tons of ideas and be able to organize them and save what you like for quick reference.
I just went to a baby shower on the weekend. They used rubber ducks in fish bowls for a centrepiece and cupcakes with diaper pins on them for decoration. I am surprised at all of the new baby gear that is out there.
ReplyDeletenumber 7 - yep, it's funny for everyone EXCEPT the parents when kids mispronounce words when they are wee, and end up saying a word that has a completely different meaning... :)
ReplyDeleteBaby shower...
Cupcakes a must
Have pieces of paper for all in attendance so they can guess - date the baby will be born, weight and length of baby and suggest a boys name or girls name. It's fun to look at later to see if anyone gets it correct!
Diaper game - melt different kinds of chocolate bars on the diapers and people have to guess what chocolate bar it is.
Baby food game - cover jars with tin(aluminium?) foil and people have to guess what food it's meant to be (I hate this game, processed baby food tastes so hideous!!)
Wool or string - people guess what the circumference of the Mummy's belly is!
Hope this helps! And enjoy!
My youngest son mispronounced "truck",too, and if it was a yellow truck, it got yelled even louder. haha You should have seen the faces of people as they passed by us with him all stirred up about a truck!
ReplyDeleteAre you on Pinterest because there's loads of party sites and ideas on there...if you are do a search for baby showers. I haven't been to a baby shower in years-sounds like fun!
