Welcome to Monday Quiz About Me - hosted by Acting Balanced and Touristic. They post 5 questions on Sunday evening along with a linky for you to link
up your post answers!
Here are the Questions:
1. On a long road trip do you prefer to be the driver or a passenger? Or do you prefer to travel a different way all together? I prefer driving, guess I like being "in control" when I'm in a car. Other people scare me.
2. Do you use a slow cooker? Favorite thing to make? Not very often.
3. Which type of festival would you rather go to... Wine and Food, Music or Sports? Of the three, I'd have to choose music.
4. What is your favorite fallacy? It can't get any worse.

And don't forget to add a 5th Question on your own blog so we can answer as we hop around!
Lets see: I went to have my hair "trimmed" and told them to take 2 inches off. They took at least 7. I was not happy to say the least. My question is: How do you react when someone you are paying for a service does not do what you asked but rather what they want?

I would not be very happy if someone took 7 inches off of my hair instead of 2. Fortunately my hair belongs to my hairdresser. She has been doing it for 35 years. I walk in and let her take care of it. I now have a wash and wear do because I travel so much and won't trust anyone else with my hair.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way each time I have a haircut. I am locked in with a lovely lady who is so nice but I do not like the way she cuts my hair.
ReplyDeleteI would be in tears!
ReplyDeleteI had to smile at your answer to #4, because that one sure is false, just when you think things can't possibly get any worse they sometimes do! Thankfully, life usually rights itself again if you can just hang in there!
ReplyDeleteThe older I get, the less of a "doormat" I am. In the past I would have gone home upset and grumbling about poor customer service of any kind. Now I ask for a manager/supervisor and address the issue at the time it occurs. In your case, they obviously can't put the hair back but certainly payment for the disaster could be refunded. I am terrified of beauticians, having had disaster cuts and perms so many times over the years. Now I just let mine grow, trim my bangs myself, and let my husband trim dry ends off the back, I know he wouldn't go scissor crazy because he loves it long! :-) I figure we have a right to expect appropriate service for our money, we don't have to become obnoxious to make our opinion count!
Your 5th question is a hard one. It depends on my mood. For the most part, I am a nice person and hate to hurt anybodies feelings, but on the right day..watch out. For a long time I had someone cutting my hair that was extended family. The last time she ignored what I asked for and just did the length she wanted. I didn't say anything I just didn't go back.
ReplyDeleteI try to get clarifications depending on the service being rendered. I would hope if I were paying(which is a rare thing for me to do in first place) them they would be professionals thus knowing better than I the best course of action. Granted when personal desires are in play I would hope explanations given ahead of time and consulted with. In the case of hair I am not sure. I am easy going and don't see it as a forever changing happening. Granted I have been cutting my own hair since I was a teen, with more mistakes or opps then I would like to admit, but I make them work.
ReplyDeleteWell, I do not have the hair issue since that requires one to actually have it. I like to be as explicit as possible when asking for service but it is hard. Thanks for playing along once again this week. Heather and I appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteThey would never see me again. If they cannot give me proper service, they cannot have my business.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually a happy and friendly person, but I don't like feeling cheated. It doesn't happen often, but when it does I take action.
ReplyDeleteIt depends on the service. If it's a restaurant or a service like that, I'll give the server a chance to correct it, but I have no problem asking for a manager. I'm usually a generous tipper, but I have tipped a penny a couplafew times. If I'm making that point (I didn't forget; you were just that bad) the server knows why they got the slam-tip. If not face to face, or if face to face doesn't work, I've been known (often) to send corporate or the owner a letter explaining why they've sent me to their competition.
I've had a few "incidents" over the years. I don't usually say anything right then, but sometimes, on my next visit, I will mention something about my hair being a little too short after the last visit. If this happens, my hairdresser will usually do something to try to make it right--like a free brow wax or a discounted hair cut.
ReplyDeletei usually wouldn't say anything... i'd have to be really upset.

I have soo been in that exact position when I asked for a couple inches (now mind you I have layered hair) and they went and hacked it off straight. I said that's not what I wanted, still paid for the dang thing and gave a tip and left :/
