Thursday again! Time to do a little "pondering" with Brenda
from Fiction With a Purpose.
Her rules are really easy:
1. Grab the Pondering with a Purpose Badge (in her sidebar)
2. Look at the week's prompt
3. Post something on your blog that relates to the prompt - it can be a
story, a poem, a picture -- anything you want it to be.
4. Go back here and add the URL from your post to the linky list on Brenda's.
5. Go check out the other bloggers who have added their links to the list.
6. AND most of all.... Have fun!
My life - it's been a long ride, a roller coaster of sorts with lots of ups and downs. I left home at 16 to go to college - what I really wanted was just to escape. I quit after 3 years, got married and spend the next few years working and having kids. When I had endured as much as I could stand, I got divorced. Shortly thereafter, I lost my job (the first "downsizing") so I went back to school, although I went in a totally different direction and just got an Associates Degree in Office Systems Technology. Those years of being a single mom of two, going to school full time and working 5-yes FIVE- part time jobs were probably the lowest of the low points. But I made it through, got a descent job after graduating and slowly started the long climb back up. After losing that job after another 12 years, here I am working at the University and getting ready to get my Master's - in another totally different field. But it's been quite a ride. Would I change anything? I don't think so. Although I could not live with my ex any longer, he is the father of my kids. Without him, they would not be here. One of my standby sayings is that "Twice in his life, he did something right." So I couldn't change anything, or they wouldn't be here.
Anyway, there have been lots of forks in the road, and I'm not sure that I always chose the right one, but here I am. I can only imagine what might happen in the future. But I plan on just "keep on keeping on" for as long as I can.

Sometimes I wonder if the snake has a forked tongue for the same reason we all have to choose one side of the fork!
ReplyDeleteI think you've done more than "keep on keeping on" and I'm sure you're kids have learned from your example of strength whether they realize it or not. I am in awe of anyone that can raise kids, go to school and hold down 5 jobs at the same time!
ReplyDeleteI am amazed at your ability to write that without resentments in your words!! Good for you and the attitude you are projecting to not just us but your family :)) I think you are SUPER!!
ReplyDeleteLife seems to be a twisted path, but therein lies the adventure. Your life sure hasn't been boring.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice thoughtful response to the question.
