I'm joining the coffee chat again this morning! If you'd like to join, head over to Rory's at Time out for Mom. The topic is: Spring Break
Yes, it is spring break here where I work and all the kids are gone. My office usually gets a lot done during the times when there aren't any students here. This week is no different. I think I accomplished more yesterday than I have in a month! It's nice to not have any interruptions. But then, it's really not much of a vacation either.
Sadly, my home computer is down for some work. I'm putting in a new video card so I can hook up both monitors. I figure that way I can have what I'm working pulled up on one and my research on the other. Hopefully will make the whole "thesis writing" process easier when I start it. But, it's taking longer than I thought (wrong video card)........why can't anything ever be as simple as it should be? I can use Biz's computer but it's just not the same! Funny how even sitting on the other side of the room can throw me off.
Your post made me laugh so hard... remember when having a computer was a luxury and we used typewriters and the library for research?
ReplyDeleteNow look at us... computers attached to us... even in our phones!
Oh yes, I remember those days - I learned to type on a MANUAL typewriter!
DeleteThe job I am currently on leave from....2 fancy computer monitors at my station. heck..maybe even 3 by the time I return. by thank goodness we have very good "techie" people to keep them in fine working order.
ReplyDeleteAnd I remember when I went to university, I couldn't afford a computer like everyone else - I had an old typewriter to type all my essays upon. Professors stopped deducting me for spelling errors once I showed them a pic of the thing! I AM the spell check I'd tell them - no fancy gadgets here! LOL
we are just about to go to a maple syrup shack for some yummy goodness -- then who knows where the day will lead. Thanks for joining me for java again!
I, too, am a creature of habit. I've used DH's laptop if his is powered up and mine is not ... it's just NOT the same! ha!
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing about computers that is ever easy! You know, if I sleep on the wrong side of any bed I have trouble sleeping. I think anything that's out of our norm tends to throw our brains into a spin. It makes me wonder this is so, you know? Maybe this would make a great post, what do you think?
ReplyDeleteYou're probably right - would make a great post.
DeleteEnjoy your "spring break" with the kids gone. I know that it makes a difference, because I worked in a school for many, many years. Also, it is really a pain to do without our computers these days. How did we do it before??
ReplyDeleteSpring Break at work...that's different!!! Hope you enjoy the quiet. I always liked walking the halls and campuses of schools after everyone's left. It's such a different atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteLots of school kids and families will be enjoying Spring Break this week --or the next couple of weeks. I always worry about young kids who go to one of the beaches to celebrate Spring Break. Too much bad stuff can happen there... Glad my sons never did that...
ReplyDeleteHope you get your computer working soon. I know how frustrating that can be.
Hugs,
Betsy
LOL, we are such creatures of habit. Hate using another computer, things aren't where I need them to be. there is nothing like being at work when everyone else is gone. Quiet and productive. ejoy your "break".
