U is for

Unemployment – the condition of having no job, the number of people who are unemployed in an area, often given as a percentage of the total labor force
Been there – done that – DON’T want to do it again. I have been “downsized” out of a job twice in my life, first at a company I worked at for 13 years, second at a job I spent 12 year at. I’m hoping my current job will be my last, but who knows in this economy. There simply is no job security any more. The last unemployment figure for this area was 9.6% - way too high.

  1. yes unemployment is crazy right now--we are struggling with a daughter that wants to go to college and the statistics of the college graduate not being employed--yes they may in the end have a leg up--but how long will it take to repay the enormous loans--she is going to have to get a full ride--great post

  2. Every time I hear the unemployment statistics I am shocked. We weathered the GFC better in Australia, and our unemployment didn't change significantly. We were lucky, and it saddens me that not everyone was as lucky.
